About Dr. KRUGER
Matthew Kruger, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist, specializing in cataract surgery and laser vision correction. He’s committed to performing the most advanced, modern treatments available, including DSAEK, DMEK, and DALK - the leading corneal transplantation procedures. His interests also include no stitch small incision cataract surgery, complex cataract surgery, dry eye treatment, refractive surgery, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma treatment.
Even as a teenager, Dr. Kruger knew he wanted to be a doctor, a profession that blended his love of science with his desire to help people. Dr. Kruger’s excitement for the field of ophthalmology began after graduating from Dartmouth College, when he spent a year volunteering at a hospital in West Africa. There, he witnessed cataract surgeries for the first time, and saw how drastically patients lives improved in such a short period of time. He knew immediately that he wanted to work with patient’s vision and eye health.
After returning from West Africa, Dr. Kruger spent two years performing research in the Department of Physiology at Tufts University before beginning his medical training at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology medical training at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Texas—the largest ophthalmology program in the United States—where he also served as clinic and surgery chief.
Dr. Kruger now runs a popular practice in Denver, Colorado where he focuses on providing first-class care to restore patient’s vision and quality of life.
During medical school, my mother-in-law suffered a retinal detachment. Seeing it from her side, the good and the bad, I committed myself to offering the level of care I’d want for my own family.
Outside of the office, he’s an avid outdoorsmen, with a passion for hiking, biking, and skiing, and he also spends a great deal of personal time keeping up-to-date on the latest ophthalmology techniques and developing technologies. Dr. Kruger believes it’s vital for doctors to evolve and grow in accordance with their ever-expanding field. He prides himself on providing the safest, most modern treatments with the best possible outcomes.
